Infinite Retention. Your Bucket. Your Data.
Connect your own Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage bucket to OpenObserve Cloud and keep logs, traces, and metrics for as long as you want, at your cloud provider's storage rates.
Never delete observability data again
Retention limits exist because vendors pay for your storage. Bring your own bucket and the limits disappear.
Retain data forever
No 30-day windows, no retention tiers, no forced expiry. Data stays as long as you keep it in your bucket: months, years, or forever.
Bring your own bucket
Works with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, or any S3-compatible object store you already run.
Pay object-storage rates
Storage is billed directly by your cloud provider at commodity rates, including lifecycle tiers like S3 Glacier for older data.
Full ownership & control
Your telemetry lives in your cloud account under your policies. You control encryption, access, and residency, and can revoke access anytime.
Compliance made simple
Meet multi-year audit and regulatory retention requirements without exporting data to cold archives you can never query.
Query years of history
Old data stays first-class: search, dashboard, and alert on it in OpenObserve exactly like data ingested yesterday.
How it works
BYOB takes minutes to set up on the Cloud Enterprise plan.
Create a bucket in your own cloud account: Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage.
Grant OpenObserve access to the bucket with a narrowly scoped IAM role or access policy.
OpenObserve writes your telemetry directly to your bucket in its highly compressed columnar format.
Query, visualize, and alert on that data in OpenObserve for as long as you keep it. There is no retention limit.
